It’s all about the socks, baby. Socks have been a huge street style and runway trend the last few seasons, and it’s seriously one of the easiest (and cheapest!) to fuse into your own style. Especially now that temps are starting to drop, they are a great tool to transition some of the shoes that you’re not quite ready to pack away yet. Plus, you can easily double up on trends here too. Add a pair of metallic socks under a peep-toe ankle bootie, and you feed two trendy birds with one scone. Or try some short fishnet ankle socks under a traditional mule to grunge up an otherwise classic silhouette. Shop my favorite affordable picks below!

White after Labor Day is still kind of a newly acceptable thing, and as such feels a bit dangerous, doesn’t it? You don’t want to feel like you’re holding onto summer, or too preppy, or like you just can’t pull it off. Wearing white for fall is a bold choice, so it has to be executed in a way that feels effortless and natural, even if it is anything but. So how do you put it together so that it feels stylish and not forced?
When I think of white looks in colder months, two vastly different images come to mind. The first is high fashion. White dresses and boots at Paris Fashion Week or soft eggshell cashmere sweaters paired with crisp white distressed denim. The other is white skinnies with brown riding boots and a turquoise blouse. Queue the infinity scarf, latte and cardi. And I think that is my biggest hesitancy in attempting white for fall – that I’ll end up looking more pumpkin spice latte than high-end style vibes. In fact, we shot this look three times before getting it right.
In all the outfits I came up with to style these jeans (which fit like a dream btw – you can get them here) here is what I have decided is key in pulling off white for fall.
Keep It Simple Stupid
Great advice. Hurts my feelings every time. Any Office fans here? No? Okay.
I ended up loving the classic white button down approach. It’s easy and it always looks good. I was definitely overthinking the first few looks I tried, but once I started to par it down, everything came together.
Monochrome or Go Home
When researching (yes, okay, pinning) my favorite fall and winter white looks, I realized I am very much attracted to the monochrome feel. I especially love the subtly of an off-white and true white paired together, though I think that can be a bit trickier to master. But all in all, the monochrome or even all neutral looks get an A+ in my book and look quite luxe.
Texture is your Friend
Had it been colder, I would have opted for a chunky knit or tweed jacket, but as it refuses to cool off here in Texas, I chose to add a bit of color and texture all in one with my trusty (and dirt cheap) satin mules.
Recently, I learned this asymmetrically buttoned off the shoulder trick for classic button downs and I love it! It gives this look the perfect amount of interest to an otherwise simplistic look. I also toyed with the idea of adding a red hat, metal belt, or another bold accessory to add a little character, which also would have done the trick.
I don’t know, what do yall think? Is it still too basic?
As cliche as it is to talk about days of the week (Yay Friday! Boo Monday.) I am thrilled that this week is over. Was it hard? Not really. Busy? Kind of but not overly. Mostly just wasn’t feeling it. Do you ever have those weeks? I would have happily stared at a blank wall for hours over being a responsible “adult.” But I got through it, I persevered, I survived. We did it, you guys.
This week, we’re back with the third round of Weekend Links. Enjoy!
Did you catch my latest post on fall trends? Well, these were a total dud! I don’t recommend them.
Fashion month is over but I’ve been dying over all the photos from PFW! Didn’t this show look insane?
But really isn’t the street style the best part of fashion week?
Is it just me or has this country been like THE destination right now?!
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t the littlest amount excited for these. I think the giraffe is my favorite.
Incorporating color into your home can be hard, but this designer totally nailed it. That green tile in the bathroom!
Low key thinking about attending this event in Dallas…
Eagerly awaiting these shoes to be delivered. Only $40! How is this possible?

My online cart runneth over. For the most part, I’ve been very good in terms of not buying anything since I am saving up for a trip, but this last week or so, I’ve been very naughty. Now that it is officially fall, I just want to buy all the fall things! And I’m not at all letting this 90+ weather deter my shopping efforts. Plus, the day is always better when there’s a package waiting on the doorstep, right? I’ve got 5 packages being delivered this week, so it is bound to be a good one!
There are a few trends in particular I am dying to partake in, especially after all the street style inspiration that comes with NYFW. Though if I am being honest, this particular season has also uninspired me to try one specific style. I was all for the grey blazer thing until I swiped past 7 grey blazer outfits IN A ROW on Instagram. Now it seems like there’d be nothing LESS creative to wear than a grey blazer. I don’t know… maybe I still want one? TBA.
Here are the trends that are being delivered to me this week (+ one wishlist item)!
White Ankle Booties
Bold, but versatile. I love easy-to-wear pieces that also make a statement, and white ankle booties definitely fall into this category. Typically, I gravitate towards boots most days anyway, so white boots are definitely a natural transition. I got a deal on this pair, but I’m unsure if I want a block heel or stiletto heel like this one.
Obviously, I love this trend already, as seen here, here and here. I wanted to add another color to the mix, so I polled you guys an Insta: red or off-white for the next hat? The results were almost unanimously off-white! Still have the red one on my mind though… 🙂
Of course, wrap dresses are nothing new, but they are to me. I’ve been told that wrap dresses are universally flattering, especially on women with curves and I respectfully disagree. I have found that summery wrap dresses are typically not bra-friendly, which sadly means they are not me-friendly. But in the fall, I take advantage of all the bra strap concealing sleeves!
Shearling is back for a victory lap. Last year I lusted over aviator jacket after aviator jacket, and I wasn’t going to miss out this time around. I have also been seeing some other shearling and faux shearling items trending, like this bag and this sweater. It seems as though this fall is going to be quite fuzzy.
Olives, Mustards and Cherry Reds
These hues, specifically in chunky knits and crossbody bags, have such a warm, retro feel that I adore. Plus, there are items popping up in these colors EVERYWHERE, so you’ll have no shortage of options!
And my one wishlist item is: the boldly colored power suit! I am dying for one in red, millennial pink or maybe even pale orange? The power suit is already such a statement look, so it’s like might as well go all out, no?
What do yall think? Are there any of these trends that you could totally pass on?
Hey guys! I recently wrote a guest post for The Everygirl and wanted to share it here. Doing this post, I realized just how much denim I wear! I definitely am a denim girl. Go here to check out my typical week of outfits!
